Recent hunts include Jeff Nelson who was able to harvest a trophy whitetail buck hosted by Monte MacDowell of Dead Down Wind and our own National Director/Member Keith Mark host of MacMillan River Adventures. The hunt took place in September and aired on The Outdoor Channel on Dec. 24, 2009 during the MacMillan River Adventures show. A big thanks to Keith and Monte for making an incredible hunt come true for Jeff who is battling cancer. Jeff and his Father Dan report having a tremendous time on this Missouri hunt that will never be forgotten.
Colby Krabbenhoft went on an all inclusive pheasant hunt with his Father Dean to Napolean, North Dakota the second week of October 09. The weather was cold but a good time was had. Even though the pheasant numbers are down the hunting was still great. Colby’s hunt was hosted by Rick Marquart who owns some fantastic hunting land. Rick is the president of the local McKenna Lake Chapter of Pheasant’s Forever. Phil Roger’s of Windy Acre’s Kennel provide his dog Hank for the hunt and Hank was flawless at pointing the birds. The hunt was filmed by North Dakota Outdoors and aired on October 18th on KVRR TV Station. A big thanks to Tom Jensen and Mike Anderson of The North Dakota Game and Fish Department and North Dakota Outdoors. Colby and Jeff are both going on upcoming deer hunts in November and we will be updating more hunts in the future.
Jared Jacob from Kintyre, North Dakota hunted elk in the Kildeer Mountains with Kildeer Mountain Outfitters owned and operated by Tim & Sally Dvirnak. The Hunt was done in conjunction with the North Dakota Elk Growers Association and a special thanks to Dwight Grosz and Shawn Schafer for all their help.
The hunt started on December 19 and proved most challenging with Jared harvesting a nice 6 x 6 bull on the 20th with a perfect shot at 300 yards across a canyon with moderate snow and a 20 mph cross wind. Our congratulations to Jared who was joined by his Father Rod and younger brother Rylan who all enjoyed a great time at the Kildeer Mountain Lodge.
Special thanks also to John Arman & Jason Wright of Ultimate Outdoor Adventure TV for the incredible job they did filming and helping out with the hunt. We all look forward to seeing an upcoming show featuring this special hunt for Jared. A big thanks Brian Gebeke of Geb’s Taxidermy for mounting this trophy for Jared.
